afternoon beachcombing. Here are the lowest tides:

Free fishing day courtesy of the California Department of Fish and
Game -
no license is required to fish from shore or the open ocean (licenses
are never required on piers in California).

California Lost Fishing Gear Recovery Project from UC Davis will do
underwater cleanup at the Pier. Sections of the Pier will be temporarily
closed to fishing as the divers work from one end to the other. |
| June 18th-19th, 2008 |
Beach Lifeguard training (including pier jumps) for County Lifeguards,
UCSB Beach Lifeguards, and Hope Ranch Lifeguards; 1 to 5 pm both days.
Fishing access will be restricted in the immediate area of the afternoon's
training. |

UCSB Jr. Lifeguards Beach Cleanup |
| July 14th, 2008 |
1. Group fishing day - Carrie Culver, UCSB extension.
10am - noon.
2. Jet ski rescues and Lifeguard pier jumps with County Lifguards
and the SB County Fire Water Rescue teams. There will be limited fishing
access on the east side of the pier from the shore to the hoist during
these exercises. |
