June 22nd: Germination (Week 1)
Soaked
3 seeds overnight that were found in a recent order of Jesus OG Kush and
planted them this morning in a window pot. As soon as they germinate they
will be transferred to a 1.5 liter plastic bottle.
June 27th: Vegetation (Week 1)
Moved the window pot to the vegetation chamber for the extra heat yesterday
morning. At noontime I noticed one seedling had already germinated.
At 5 pm a second seedling emerged. By afternoon both seedlings were
almost 1/2" high. Scratching through the soil I found the 3rd seed which was
not viable and did not sprout.
They two seedlings will remain in the window pot until I have room for them in the vegetation chamber in another week or so.
6-30:
Went ahead and replanted the seedlings into 1.5 liter plastic bottles filled
with 550 grams of Happy Frog organic potting soil. Each bottle was given
1/2 cup of RO H
2O bringing the wet weight to 650 grams. As the
seedlings grow more soil will be added to fill to within 1/2" of the top
of the bottles.
July 4th: Vegetation (Week 2)
Seedlings progressing normally.
July 11th: Vegetation (Week 3)
Seedlings progressing normally.
July 18th: Vegetation (Week 4)
I just realized that I do not need to maintain two separate chambers ...
the LED lit chamber can be left on an 18/6 photoperiod and those plants that
are ready to flower just need to be removed at 6 pm to a dark chamber until
morning to meet the required 12 hours of darkness that flowering plants need
each day.
This allows the not quite ready plants to continue their vegetation
under the best light. Seedling and clones can still be started under fluorescents
in the former vegetation chamber until they are ready to be transferred.
Now that Grow 12 has been harvested the photoperiod in the flowering chamber
was reset to 18/6 and all of the remaining plants transferred over to continue
their vegetation.
July 25th: Vegetation (Week 5)
Plants putting on good growth.
7-27: Both seedlings given 1/2 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 650 grams each.
7-31: Both seedlings given 1/2 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 650 grams each.
August 1st: Vegetation (Week 6)
Plants making good progress. Since they
are the shortest of all the plants in the chamber they were placed atop a
section of a blue plastic tote crate bringing them to the same distance from the light as
the others.
8-3: Both seedlings given 1/2 cup of plain H
2O bringing the
container weights to 600 grams each.
8-7: Both seedlings given 1 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 630 grams each.
August 8th: Vegetation (Week 7)
Both plants making normal progress.
8-10: Both seedlings given 1 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 650 grams each.
8-13: Both seedlings given 1 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 650 grams each.
August 15th: Flowering (Week 1)
Since all of the other plants were switched to the flowering cycle these two plants (right side front) were included as well.
8-16: Both plants given 1 cup of RO H
2O w/a heavy feeding
(2 Tbls p/gal dilution) of BioThrive Grow organic fertilizer bringing the
container weights to 650 grams each.
8-19: Both plants given 1.5 cups RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding of BioThrive Bloom bringing the individual container's weight to 650 grams.
8-21: Both plants given 1 cup RO H
2O bringing the individual container's weight to 700 grams
August 22nd: Flowering Week 2
These two plants have shown their sex
and BOTH are female. They were immediately transplanted to one gallon nursery
pots filled with Happy Frog organic potting soil and equalized at a wet weight
of 1450 grams each.
They were topped at 8.5 - 9.0 inches to increase budding
sites and will be flowered in the vegetation chamber under a 125 watt CFL
with an additional 56 watts of vertical T5 bulbs at the rear of the chamber
to help develop the flowers lower down on the plants.
8-24: Both plants were given 1.5 cups RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding of BioThrive Bloom. They should be watered every three days now for consistent growth.
8-27: Both plants were given 1 cup RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding of BioThrive Bloom.
August 29th: Flowering Week 3
Both plants still recovering from being topped ... always stressful but especially
so just after they started to flower. Even so both have grown another inch taller and have at least one flower
with emerging yellow white pistils at its center but it will be another week or more before it is really
obvious.
8-30: Both plants were given 1 cup of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
9-1:
The plants were given 1 cup of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom one day early as I will be out of town tomorrow leaving
before sunup.
9-4: The plants were given 1 cup of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom. Additional organic potting soil was added to top off the container.
September 5th: Flowering Week 4
Both plants are in full flower with multiple yellow white pistils emerging
from the newly developing calyxes. No explanation as to why plant #2 is a
full two inches shorter than plant #1 (pictured) at this point. Perhaps it
is just a phenotype characteristic ... some are taller than their sisters
from the same mother.
9-7: The plants were given 1 cup of RO H
2O.
9-10: Both plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
September 12th: Flowering Week 5
Jesus OG Day 25
Both plants progressing normally with abundant pistils and even some trichomes dusting the leaves.
Obviously two different phenotypes though with one growing another 1.5" in
the last week and the other not growing vertically at all.
9-13: The plants were given 1 cup of RO H
2O.
9-16: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
September 19th: Flowering Week 6
The plants are continuing to develop normally. They are fairly small plants
with only 15 - 20 buds all total. I anticipate only about 1/4 ounce
(7 grams) although the period of heaviest bud growth is over the next 3 -
4 weeks.
The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
9-21: The plants were given 1 cup of plain RO H
2O.
9-23: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
9-25: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
September 26th: Flowering Week 7
Flowering Day 40
Here were are in the middle of the seventh week and the flowers are stinky and sticky ... another two weeks to go.
In
this close up the swelling resin glands (trichomes) are erect giving the
impression that the leaves and the pistils have been sprinkled with salt.
When backlit they appear as fuzzy stalks along the leaf margins. The pistils
now are maturing - turning brown and shriveling up. The flowers will continue
to enlarge until harvest ... by then most of the pistils will have matured
and the trimmed bud will have a orange brown color.
9-27: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
9-30: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O with a heavy (2 tbls p/gal) feeding
of BioThrive Bloom.
10-3: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O.
October 3rd: Flowering Week 8
Since
the plants are now just one to two weeks away from harvest they will no longer be
fed any fertilizers and will receive only plain water. My experience
is that there is a noticeable difference in taste and smoothness when fertilizers
are withheld during the final weeks before harvest..
Trichomes Day 50
The trichomes have fully formed stalks and bulbs cloudy
with resin but none have aged and turned amber indicating they need another
week to 10 days to be fully mature.
10-6: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O.
10-8: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O. Temperatures over 870F this week.
October 10th: Flowering Week 9
The plants are in their final week of flowering and are filling out nicely
with thick, heavy flowers that are sticky and beginning to develop a delightful
fragrance.
Trichomes Day 58
Not much change from last week - bulbs and stalks filled with resin but have
just begun turning to amber so the plants still need a few more days. They
will be harvested this Friday the 16th.
10-11: The plants were given 1.5 cups of RO H
2O.
10-12: 11 Grams of the smaller secondary buds (Day 59) were harvested today and set
aside in a small mason jar as a test of a combined drying and curing
process. They were very sticky with a great aroma.
October 15th: Harvest (Day 62)
Harvested and trimmed a total of 28 grams of wet bud. They will be dried
in a paper bag along with the previously harvested 11 (now dried to 4) grams rather then hung
due to the extremely high humidity following last night's storm.
10-19: Total dried weight - 13 grams.
