December 23, 2004 Update:
Recently I sold my home in Carpinteria and am now living full time in a classic GMC motorhome traveling the California coastline as a volunteer field rep for United Pier and Shore Anglers of California. As a result I was faced with a quandary as to how to maintain current coverage on the pier. There are a number of issues that are being discussed regarding Goleta Pier and the surrounding area which could have a definite impact. In the next couple of years the Goleta Beach Masterplan will be finalized so it's important that we have someone who can keep tabs on the political as well as the recreational life at Goleta in my absence. Luckily I was fortunate enough to have a volunteer who cares as much about the Goleta Pier community as I do!
I would like to extend a warm welcome and my special thanks to one of our Goleta Pier Regulars, Jesse, for his willingness to help me out with this website as a reporter and contributing editor. Jesse grew up in the Santa Barbara area and has been fishing local piers for over 16 years ... for the past year he has been a regular on www.pierfishing.com where he posts under the name Amo_Pescare1. Look for him and his two sons, Nathan and Justin next time you are out at the pier!
Thank you Jesse for offering your services - I accept and look forward to a mutually enjoyable and productive collaboration.
